Product safety notifications have been updated

In December 2022, Notifications including Notification 2023/6 on the Import of Chemicals; Notification 2023/9 on the Import of Products that Must Bear CE Marking; Notification 2023/11 on the Import of PPE; Notification 2023/15 on the Import of Batteries and Accumulators; Notification 2023/20 on the Import of Substances Controlled by the Ministry of Health.

Turkey aims to ban lillial in cosmetic products

The Turkish Medicine and Medical Equipment Authority (TİTCK) is preparing a draft Regulation to ban Butylphenyl methylpropional (known as lillial) in cosmetic products to be in line with the EU REACH Regulation. Under the EU REACH, lillial has been classified to be phased out in the EU by March of 2022.

Amended Regulation on Energy Performance in Buildings

On 19 February 2022, the Regulation on Energy Performance in Buildings OJ 27075 was amended. The amendments were done to increase the use of renewable energy in buildings and achieve almost Zero-energy-buildings (Neredeyse Sıfır Enerjili Binalar).

Amended Regulation on the Safety of Work Equipment Safety

On 18 February 2022, the Regulation on the Safety of Work Equipment OJ 28628 was amended to introduce stricter requirements and extend the scope of the Regulation i.e. to rental equipment.

The Regulation on Medical Examination of Workers effective

On 20 January 2022, the Regulation on Medical Examination of Workers OJ 31725 entered into force. It establishes rules on medical examination of workers. The Regulation aims to implement Law No.6331 on Occupational Health and Safety.

Increased environmental fines

As of 1 January 2022, environmental fines laid down by Notifications 2022/1 and 2021/61 have been increased by around 37%.

New Import Notifications published

On 1 January 2022, various Import Notifications entered into force such as the following: Notification 2022/15 on the Import of Batteries and Accumulators; Notification 2022/13 on Products Safety; Notification 2022/20 on the Import of Substances Controlled by the Ministry of Health;Notification 2022/6 on the Import of Chemicals; Notification 2022/14 on the Import of Ozone Depleting Substances; Notification 2022/17 on the Import of Chemicals Regulated by the Chemical Weapon Convention; Notification 2022/3 on the Import of Waste.

Turkish Pollutant Release and Transfer Register Regulation published

The Regulation of 4 December 2021 implements Regulation (EC) No. 166/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 January 2006 concerning the establishment of a European Pollutant Release and Transfer Register in Turkey. Pursuant to the Regulation, Annex 1 facilities will have to comply with the registration and reporting requirements. Annex 1 includes the energy and chemical sectors as well as installations for the surface treatment of substances, objects or products using organic solvents.
